Luis divides his time between active board work and consulting. He is Managing Director of Luis Jimenez Consulting, offering strategy advisory and business development services to corporations in a range of industries. He is the Founder of Strategy Dialogues Ltd, a UK-based firm that organizes and produces custom C-level executive workshops. His board work includes eight years as a corporate director at Great Plains Energy, a $2.1 billion NYSE electric utility, where he last chaired the Governance Committee. He serves on four Advisory Boards, including: Rutgers University’s Center for Research in Regulated Industries; the Federal Polytechnic of Lausanne in Switzerland; Arthur D. Little NA, the US consulting arm of Altran Technologies, a Paris-based $2.2 billion Euronext company; and 7R Communications, a start-up developing more environmentally benign packaging and mailing solutions. He is a frequent participant at meetings of corporate board directors and is a member of NACD, the National Association of Corporate Directors. He has completed the Harvard Business School’s course for public-company board directors and participated in numerous director-level meetings sponsored by NACD and Board Member.
Luis is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Pitney Bowes, a Fortune 500 firm, where for 8 years he reported to the Chairman and CEO. Previously, he was Vice President and Practice Leader with Arthur D. Little, a global management consultancy, where he founded and led a global practice. He is a graduate of Universidad Católica in Chile and of Stanford University in California.
At Pitney Bowes, Luis formulated strategy and policy and foresaw long-term developments in digital technologies, electronic communications, media and commerce. His efforts were cited in Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, Business Week, Financial Times, Fortune, Investor’s Business Daily, Associated Press, Welt am Sontag in Germany and in numerous industry publications. He has been a frequent speaker at international conferences and has over 100 speeches and publications to his credit.
Luis was previously Vice President and Practice Leader with consultants Arthur D. Little, where he led projects in 12 industries across 30 countries. For 25 years he consulted for clients in telecommunications, media, transportation, messaging, energy and utilities. In his last assignment he was based in Mexico and managed the Latin American P&L for media and telecom and sat on the Board of Arthur D. Little’s Global Telecom and Media Practice and on the Management Board for Latin America.
Luis was born in Santiago, Chile where he obtained his Civil Engineer’s degree summa cum laude at Universidad Católica in Santiago. He began his career as an Industrial Engineer at the steel works of Chile’s Compañía de Acero del Pacífico. After gaining a competitive scholarship from the Organization of American States he obtained Master’s degrees in Operations Research and Engineering-Economic Systems at Stanford University.
Luis has been ranked by Hispanic Business and Hispanic Trends among the 100 most influential leaders. In 2004 he was named by Hispanic Business to the Corporate Elite of 25 leaders in global Fortune 500 companies. In 2005 he received the Destino Award for Business Person of the Year from the National Society of Hispanic MBAs in Connecticut.
While living in Massachusetts until 1994, Luis volunteered as a coach for the Boston Area Youth Soccer and Chaired the Massachusetts United Way Subcommittee for Social Services, allocating funds to over 30 needy agencies.
