Since December 2004, Edwin Garcia has been the Vice President of Corporate Diversity & Inclusion and in May 2006 assumed the role of Vice President of Human Resource Strategy Development and Portfolio Management with the $15.8B maker of Huggies and Kleenex - Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Dr. Garcia is a member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the CHRO, Liz Gottung.
As Vice President of Human Resource Strategy Development and Portfolio Management, Dr. Garcia's scope of responsibilities include: The development and deployment of HR global strategies aimed at supporting Kimberly-Clark’s recently launched Global Business Plan; Responsibilities for HRIS, HR business intelligence and analytical metrics development; Serves as the CHRO’s Chief of Staff and the HR comptroller and project portfolio manager.
Projects under Garcia's management in the HR portfolio include the ongoing global restructuring of HR and the HR Business Processes Outsourcing (HR BPO) project. The HR BPO project, once implemented during 2007, will account for $270M spending across North America and Europe and yield savings close to $50M.
Dr. Garcia joined Kimberly Clark from the Irving Texas based National Society of Hispanic MBA (NSHMBA) where he served as President and CEO. Prior to NSHMBA he held various research, product development, quality, manufacturing, human resources and diversity roles at Texas based Dell, Inc. and at Rochester N.Y. based Eastman Kodak Company.
His experiences include EEO/AAP compliance, Diversity and Inclusion Staffing and Education, Strategic Alliances with external organizations and associations, the development of Global Diversity and Inclusion strategies and HR analytical measurement aimed at improving business outcomes.
Edwin has been a guest speaker on the topics of Global Diversity and Inclusion as an employment brand building strategy, and on the topic of Hispanic Education at various national forums. He has served on five Boards of Directors for non-profits and community organizations in a variety of capacities from Chairman, Program Chairman, Nominating Committee Chairman, and Board member. He is a 2004 graduate of Harvard Graduate Business School prestigious director’s college.
He holds the following degrees: B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico; M.S. and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin; and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He resides in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta with his wife and 2 daughters.
